Packing List For Baptiste Training At Menla
Packing for Menla
- 1 Manduka PROlite 71" mat (weighs a lot less than my Black Mat Pro)
- 1 Marpac rohm travel size white noise generator
- 1 Manduka "Local mat carrier"
- I have a second-hand Local tote, replaced the zippers & it's good as new!
- 1 foam block
- Drill a hole in the corner and hang the block from your yoga mat bag to conserve packing space!
- 1 strap
- Assorted Ultima Replenisher packets
- 1 water bottle
- 32+ Nescafe espresso sticks
- My caffeine dosage is two double expressos/day...
- 1 lightweight breathable net tote bag
- You can store your mat and block in the lounge room of the Nolanda Conference Center. The room is not locked overnight and you leave your things there at your own risk. That being said, I've never lost a mat, mat bag, mat towel, block or a strap. Others have had newly purchased Baptiste clothing go missing, but I think that's more a case of mistaken ownership than outright theft.
- baby wipes/antiseptic wipes
- 3 yoga mat towels (not essential. I've used some hand towels instead at previous programs)
- 1 collapsible tripod or DIY clothes dryer contraption or clothesline/twine.
- 20 (or more) stainless steel clips to hang up clothes/towels
- 1 package command wire hooks for additional hooks in your room!
- 1 soft sided/silicone ice tray (not absolutely necessary either)
- If you're in a ladies bunkhouse (Snowlion, Dragon, Eagle, Garuda), you'll have a full size fridge with a freezer!
- 1 battery powered fan
- 1 high powered 4 port USB charger
- 1 Extension cord, electrical adapter (8 outlets)
- 1 flashlight
- 1 travel size bug spray
- 1 travel size tick repellant (necessity for Menla in the summer)
- lightweight jacket/hoodie
- slip on sneakers or sneakers with elastic laces!
- 1 cheap clothesline
- 4-5 binder clips (can be handy for hanging towels on the commando hooks or creating a makeshift privacy curtain from a spare bedsheet in a shared bathroom)
- a couple of small bars of hotel bar soap for the bathroom/shower (if desired)
- sunscreen
- on the off chance you can log some pool time
- 1 goop tube with dish soap in it
- For washing clothes in the sink/shower
- 1 goop tube with shower gel in it
- Menla supplies Dr. Bronner's liquid soap for yogi's to use, but you may want to bring your favorite shower soap.
If there's anything else you'll need, you'll get an email from the Baptiste Institute in the weeks preceding the program. This email will have links to your information packets, the JIP sequencing cards and the True North Alignment cues as well as a packing list.
I highly recommend making a reservation with Advantage Transit Group (518) 433-0100 to pick your group up at the Albany airport and drive you in comfort to and from Menla. Dividing the cost of the 11 person Mercedes sprinter van transportation across 11 passengers makes it affordable for everyone! It works out to be $31 per person one waym $62 round trip.
You may find you need similar things if you attend Baptiste trainings in Sedona, but I can't say for sure. I attended Level One and Level Two at Menla in the summers of 2016 and 2017.
